Chris White

Chris White is the Director of Bands at Hickory Ridge High School in Harrisburg, NC, where he has served since the school opened in 2007. He holds degrees from Bridgewater College and Winthrop University and has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2006. At Hickory Ridge, he conducts the Wind Symphony and Concert Band, teaches music theory, and oversees a comprehensive program of concert, jazz, marching, winter, and chamber ensembles.
Under his direction, Hickory Ridge ensembles have earned consistent superior ratings and performed internationally, including tours to London (2009, 2016, and 2026), China (2018), and Austria and Czechia (2023). The Hickory Ridge Wind Symphony performed as a part of the North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA) conference in 2022, the 2024 Music for All Atlanta Affiliate Concert Band Festival, and the 2026 Music for All National Festival. The Hickory Ridge Jazz Ensemble performed for the 2024 North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA) conference. Mr. White is an active clinician, adjudicator, and conductor and currently serves as President of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association.
